Practical Suggestions for Half a Day in Tel Aviv

How to spend half a day in Tel Aviv? Practical suggestions

Wondering how to spend half a day in Tel Aviv? Not sure what to see? While you could make a list of several museums to see, I wouldn’t recommend it. After days of sightseeing Jerusalem and other areas of Israel a relaxing day on the beach is exactly what you’ll need. You’re on the Mediterranean, enjoy it!

Enjoy the beach

In a word, I love the Mediterranean. I have seen it along the coast of Spain, France, Monaco, Italy, Croatia, Greece, Egypt, and now Israel. If you have a similar experience you know how easy it is to enjoy it. So, if you only have half a day in Tel Aviv, go to the beach. Tel Aviv has lots of beaches, essentially all with white soft sand. While we stayed near Gordon Beach, an active beach with chairs for rent and volleyball nets, other beaches offer similar amenities. There are also any restaurants and bars around. You can even see Old Jaffa, a popular attraction, in the distance.

Stroll along the Tayelet

The Tayelet or the Tel Aviv Promenade stretches for miles along the Mediterranean Sea. Early in the morning or in the evening, it’s absolutely lovely to stroll along it watching boats sail in the setting sun. I think it would be fun to rent a bike and ride all the way to Old Jaffa and its port.

Enjoy a meal

If you’re staying along the central beaches of Tel Aviv, you will easily find places to eat along the Tayelet or to the east of it. We enjoyed a beer at a bar by the beach while for dinner we headed into town for pizza. Purchased by weight, eaten along a long picnic table in the warm breeze of the Mediterranean, it was exactly what we wanted. A lovely night in a country with such a turbulent history…
