How to Enjoy Several Days in Steamboat Springs, Colorado?

Are you wondering how to enjoy several days in Steamboat Springs? Well, Steamboat Springs is one of those great Colorado towns that offers amazing all year round outdoor activities. From skiing in the winter to biking and hiking in the summer, you will certainly find something fun to do in and around town. Here are a few suggestions on what to do in Steamboat Springs:

How to Enjoy Several Days in Steamboat Springs?

1. Enjoy the historic downtown

My first impressions of a place seem to be always based on the downtown area. I like attractive, well taken care of towns that offer a choice of restaurants, coffee shops, and souvenir stores. Steamboat Springs definitely checks off all of those boxes. The town boasts multiple historic buildings, a cool Old Town Square, and many sports and ski shops. It’s fun to walk along Lincoln Avenue and pop into the different venues. Set aside several hours to explore the town.

2. Float or stroll along the Yampa River

The Yampa River flows right through town and offers opportunities for fishing, floating, or just walking along it. Even though we neither fished nor floated, we saw people doing both. We did, however, take a nice stroll and enjoyed the views.

3. Visit the Botanic Park

The Botanic Park is a small but lovely park just outside the downtown area. It is organized by thematic gardens and is a great place to relax. We visited Steamboat Springs towards the end of June and the blooming flowers were certainly beautiful. If you’re wondering what to do, definitely check out the park.

4. Hike to Fish Creek Falls

Hiking to Fish Creek waterfalls was a fun thing to do and I absolutely recommend it. You can just hike to the overlook or descend down to the river. Both hikes are short and the views are lovely. If you’re up for a longer hike, you can go to the second falls or all the way to Long Lake, which is 5 miles away. The trails are popular, so don’t count on much solitude.

5. Swim or boat at the Stagecoach Reservoir

We camped at the Stagecoach State Park for 3 nights and greatly enjoyed the park and the scenery. The park has a nice swim beach and a marina, which seemed to be quite popular. If you want to camp close to Steamboat Springs, don’t hesitate to book a spot in this park. It’s a great place.

6. Have a beer at a brewery

There are several breweries in Steamboat Springs. However, be aware that some of them are closed on Mondays. We went to the Storm Peak Brewery and really liked it. They don’t serve food but there is an amazing pizza next door. They will bring you the pizza to the brewery once it’s ready.
