Park City Mountain Resort is the largest ski resort in the United States. With 43 lifts and 330 trails, it is a desirable destination for both skiers and snowboarders. Park City hosted several events during the 2002 Winter Olympic Games and continues to serve as a training location for the US Ski Team. Getting to the Park City Mountain Resort is quite easy. It is located 30 miles east of Salt Lake City and essentially in the heart of historic Park City. The resort has two distinct base areas – Park City and Canyons which are connected with the Quicksilver Gondola. During my last trip, the snow coverage wasn’t very good at Canyons, so I only skied the Park City section of the resort. As an intermediate skier, I enjoy gradual blue runs. Below are my recommendations for the best blue runs in Park City.
Best blue runs in Park City Mountain Resort
One of the nicest blue runs on the Park City side of the resort is Georgeanna. The run is off of McConkey’s Express, so it will take you a bit to get there. We took Eagle to King Con to Silverload to eventually get to McConkey. We also skied a few runs off of Motherload but those blue runs seemed pretty steep. Giorgeanna is an easy blue run with beautiful views of Heber Valley and Mt. Timpanogos in the Wasatch Range.
Another fabulous run is Payday. It’s an easy blue, so skiing it was really no effort. Once you’re done with Georgeanna, ski down and catch either Jonesty’s or the green Bonanza run, which will take you down to Payday. When we visited, there was hardly anyone skiing Payday Express, so we stayed here for the rest of the day. Another benefit of skiing Payday Express is that your final run will take you to the Park City Mountain Village where you can find a bar to relax in after an intense day of skiing.
Don’t forget to spend some time in the historic Park City. It’s a great little town with a rich mining history, lots of shops, and a ton of restaurants and bars. Enjoy!
